Your letter to cancel your supplementary insurance

Your details, your products, and the letter comes out in German, French or Italian with your English translation beside it. Everything happens in your browser: your data is not sent anywhere.

The golden rule before you print anything: do not cancel until you have the new insurer’s acceptance IN WRITING. In supplementary insurance the insurer can turn you down, and cover, once lost, is sometimes impossible to get back. Here is the full guide, with each insurer’s deadlines (in Spanish).

1 · Your details

2 · Your insurer

When you choose it, the official address of the entity that carries the supplementary insurance is filled in below, verified on 21.8.2026 against the federal register and the insurer’s own conditions. You can edit it: always compare it with your policy, just in case — if your policy gives a different correspondence address, send it to the one on the policy. Did you take out your supplementary insurance through Helvetia, Zurich, Generali or Baloise? They distribute it but do not carry it: check your policy to see who the insurer is (usually Sanitas, or Assura via Generali) and choose that one here.

3 · What you are cancelling

Write each product exactly as it appears on your policy (for example “COMPLETA TOP” or “Hospital mi-privée”). Anything you do not name stays in force. The compulsory health insurance (LAMal) is not affected by this letter: it is a separate contract.

4 · The reason

5 · The language of the letter you send

The official letter goes out in the language you choose. On the next page the PDF adds your English translation, marked as a courtesy copy: that one is not sent.

6 · Your signature (optional)

If you do not sign here, the letter comes out with a line so you can sign it by hand after printing.

Before you send it, check

Enter your name, your insurer and at least one product.

A guidance tool: it prepares the letter, but it is your own contract that governs. It is not personalised advice: it does not know your full situation. That is what a call is for. The deadlines, the clauses and the addresses of the 10 largest insurers come from their general conditions (AVB/CGA) in force — the edition and the clause are quoted on screen — and from the federal business register (UID), verified on 21.8.2026; your particular contract may differ. This page runs entirely in your browser: it does not send your data to any server, not even to us.
